Professional Biography

Dr. Entessar Mohamad Al Jbawi is a senior agricultural researcher and scientific leader with extensive experience spanning plant breeding, biometry, agricultural research management, scientific publishing, and international development cooperation. Her career combines specialized scientific expertise with senior leadership responsibilities, national project coordination, academic supervision, and contributions to agricultural extension and research dissemination.

Currently, she holds two concurrent leadership positions at the General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research (GCSAR), Syria: Head of May 1st Research Station and Head of the Sugar Beet Research Department. These responsibilities complement her longstanding specialization in sugar beet research and her broader engagement in crop science, quantitative analysis, and the development of agricultural research programmes.

Her previous leadership appointments include Director of Agricultural Extension at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Syria, and Editor-in-Chief of the Ministry’s Agriculture Journal. She has also held senior editorial positions in scientific journals and contributed to the advancement of academic publishing through journal leadership and editorial service.

Her research portfolio includes 67 papers published in Scopus-indexed journals and more than 150 scientific articles in Arabic and English. She has authored 34 technical guides on participatory agriculture, including three official manuals serving as national references for extension work, and has supervised 25 MSc and PhD students at Syrian universities. Her technical expertise encompasses statistical analysis using SPSS and GenStat, genotype × environment interaction analysis, experimental design, and the application of quantitative methods to agricultural research.

At the international level, she has served as National Coordinator of an FAO-funded agricultural extension project, National Focal Point of the Arab Forum for Rural Advisory Services (AFRAS), and scientific partner in the DAAD-funded Greenhouse Power project with Deggendorf Institute of Technology, Germany. Her achievements include the Third Prize of the Arab Scientific Research Council Award for Agricultural Excellence in 2017, alongside other scientific distinctions and professional contributions.

With a PhD in Plant Breeding and Biometry and extensive experience in agricultural research, I have contributed to crop improvement, varietal evaluation, statistical analysis, and the development of evidence-based agricultural recommendations.

My research has focused particularly on sugar beet, alongside broader interests in crop performance, sustainable agricultural production, and the application of biometry, data analytics, and artificial intelligence in agricultural research. Throughout my career, I have combined scientific expertise with institutional leadership, international project coordination, and collaboration with researchers and academic institutions.

As Editor-in-Chief of the Research Journal of Science (RJS), I continue to support scientific publishing, interdisciplinary research, and the dissemination of research findings across agricultural and scientific fields.
